why were the lights on?
true programmers type in the dark
with a tower of empty Mountain Dew cans by their side
You could always just come bearing gifts of monster and chocolate!
OMFG, I love my field of study.
Every programmer I know would already have ear buds in and be listening to whatever they want.. So Ave Maria would not be heard. But I have ya an up vote - still funny!!
What happens if you break the glass?
They escape and you need to spend the rest of the day laying a trail of Cheerios back to the door.
Hahaha. That gave me a good giggle. Have some karma.
There are so many musicians who have pieces called ave maria: Beyonce, Celine Dion, Beethoven, Schubert...which one should we sing?
Gotta go old school with programmers, they are geeks after all. Beethoven and Schubert are the same I believe in lyrics just different sound; though Beethoven might not have have lyrics at all, not sure. Its still rather a pretty song sure to sooth the meek programmers.
They actually all have the same words. This is what is called a "text setting" in music and there all lots of them, mostly religious music. Ave Maria and the Latin Mass are great examples as is the traditional Doxology that has many different tunes for it. Most Ave Maria settings are in Latin, but sometimes versions exist in the composers' native languages as well as other languages dependent upon which church is using it. An excellent example of this is Rachmoninoff's "Ave Maria"/"Bogoroditse Devo". I highly recommend a listen, especially the Russian version.
I believe the Ave Maria they're talking about is the operatic one. *nod* I disagree with geeks being old school, however. Programmers are up to date on all the new technology. And as we all know from the hit movie Hackers (1995 starring Jonny Lee Miller and Angelina Jolie), hackers listen to tech and tech rock constantly.
I disagree with you disagreeing. Geeks are old school.
We don't listen to classical music...
Yesterday it was music from the 90's
It's usually nerd rap with us, bit of Mc Frontalot never hurt no-body. but classical does come into it when we're working major overtime, keep us chill. listening to nerd rap whilst hyped up on energy drinks is always eventful
Oh fine, I admit I have entire albums of Beethoven, Bach, Dvorak (nobody knows who this is), and Mozart.
Dvorak made my instrument famous : Cor Anglais from the new world symphony
I lived in Spillville, IA for a while, directly across from a museum dedicated to him and two brothers who made clocks. He wrote his String Quartet in F there.
I know who Dvorak is! He invented an alternate, faster keyboard layout! (joke)
Well now we know, because well Wikipedia, and maybe some vague bells ringing from eigth grade chorus ten years ago.
That last part was a lie.
i see you are on 14 likes, so i will help you.....
