A Quick Lesson in Tickld
It has been an amazing journey for Tickld.
A little over four years ago, James and Kyle founded Tickld with the intention of creating the ultimate procrastination destination on the Internet. What they didn’t know was how popular the concept would be.
As more and more like-minded people discovered Tickld, the Site developed into a community of funny, clever contributors and what began as a pet project quickly became a full-time job for James and Kyle.
Tickld continued to grow as people told their friends, who told their friends. Soon Tickld became a worldwide community. This brought with it the challenge of keeping the Site up-and-running. At this point, Nic joined the team to head up development and infrastructure.
Tickld is constantly growing and changing. An increasing percentage of visitors to Tickld first discover our website by way of our editorial content, which is widely distributed on social media. You can access our editorial content by visiting http://www.tickld.com.
Are you interested to join The Tickld Team?
A small, but growing team of software developers, writers and business development professionals now work full-time for Tickld.
We have many big ideas, but we need your help to make them a reality!
We are looking for talented people to join our small team in Toronto, Canada. Our current requirements are:
- Sr. Full Stack Developer
- Business Development
If you or anyone you know fits the bill then we welcome you to contact us.
Unfortunately, we can only employ people already authorized to work in Canada and able to travel daily to midtown Toronto.
James - Co-Founder
James focuses most of his time on social growth. He also manages the editorial team.
Having moved from his London, UK home to Toronto for Tickld, James lives and breathes the Site. James was an American studies student at The University of Nottingham and Texas A&M before leaving his studies to pursue Tickld full-time.
Kyle - Co-Founder
Kyle's entire life is consumed by Tickld. When he's not answering emails or managing the day-to-day operation of Tickld, he's probably sleeping. He lives at his desk, working tirelessly on behalf of the Tickld Community. In those rare moments Kyle finds some time for himself, he enjoys reading, traveling and spending time with his friends and family.
Kyle has a six-year-old beagle named Cleo who likes to cuddle. Kyle also likes to cuddle with Cleo, except when she's gassy, which is all-too-frequent. Kyle has two university degrees, neither of which have come in particularly useful for Tickld. Kyle enjoys spending time outdoors in the summer. He also enjoys camping, but hasn't been able to go in a few years as WiFi is his lifeblood.
Kyle is a graduate of McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario and has an LL.B. from The University of Nottingham in Nottingham, United Kingdom.
Nic - CTO
Nic is the technical head of Tickld. He constitutes 50% of the English accents in the Tickld office and argues fiercely over the pronunciation of “beta”, “data” and “GIF” (that last one isn’t an English thing, just Nic being stubborn).
Nic drinks the most coffee in the office by a large margin to keep him awake after his epic daily commute into Toronto. Nic lives for Tickld. If something is broken on the Site, Nic is the man to blame.
Jeremy - Developer
Jeremy is very excited to be such an integral part of the Tickld Team and all that it has to offer.
When Jeremy is not exploring the city of Toronto, Jeremy enjoys playing video games, playing soccer and listening to music. His favourite colour is red and he hates the cold. There aren't many days he does not wear a hoodie. Hoodies are his religion. Wearing hoodies should be mandatory. He loves hoodies.
Mehmet - Android Developer
Mehmet is happy to be Tickld’s Android developer because he gets to work with his laptop and his smartphone. He doesn’t engage in conversations unless it’s about computers, programming, smartphones or high-tech. Mehmet is happily married (sorry girls!) and has a little daughter, so when he's not doing something on his laptop, he's spending time with his daughter and wife. He likes to work out as well sometimes. Mehmet is a pretty chill dude. The things that ever get him angry are slow computers and laggy phones.

Mark - iOS Developer
Mark is Tickld’s lead iOS developer. Mark was born in Casterly Rock, but emigrated to King’s Landing at a young age owing to his parent’s outward loyalty to Aerys Targaryen, the Second of His Name, King of the Seven Kingdoms. Mark’s first computer was a gift from Finn the Human for valiantly saving Princess Bubblegum from the clutches of the Ice King during a dark period in Finn’s life following the death of Jake. Mark’s passion for all-things Apple blossomed following a six month internship at Apple in Cupertino, California.
Mark wasn’t present when we were updating the Team page as he was off on holiday in Portugal, so this is the bio he’s stuck with, at least for a little while. Also, he’s married to Buttercup from the Powerpuff Girls.
Josh - Business Development
Christine - Bookkeeper
Two things dominate her life, her massive dog and the game of hockey.
Christine deeply loves her hairy, slobby Newfoundland called Luna. When she’s not dousing Luna in tomato juice to get rid of skunk smell, she is following her life-long passion for the Boston Bruins.
Steve - CFO
Steve is our resident wiseman. When asked for something funny for his bio Steve said "I can't be funny, I'm an accountant".
Easily the smartest dresser in the office, Steve brings a sense of wisdom and experience to the Team. His favorite activity is washing his hair.
Bobby - Writer
Bobby is a fine example of your classic geeky hipster. He's into video games, technology, fantasy novels, and long romantic walks on the beach. He spends far too much time online, and he knows a lot more about fictional worlds than he does about the real world.
Bobby is a recent graduate from the Univeristy of Toronto as an English major with Philosophy and Professional Writing Minors.
Rudro - Writer
Rudro grew up geek. Anything with laser beams, swords, or insanely high-powered sniper rifles drew him in. He now spends his time buying movies he'll never watch, and writing until his carpal tunnel forces him to pick up a video game controller.
Rudro is a recent Bachelor of Science graduate from the University of Toronto as a Psychology major with Biology and Professional Writing minors.
Laura - Writer
Laura moved to Toronto earlier this year and embarrassingly still pronounces the second "T". Her previous writing credits include many a Teen Titan fanfiction circa 2006 and half-assed Instagram captions about the exciting downtown culture scene.
Laura is a recent graduate of the University of Toronto Mississauga and Sheridan College as a Theatre and Drama Studies specialist and an English major.
Zainab - Writer
The Tickld Office
The Tickld Office is conveniently located in midtown Toronto, just steps from the St. Clair subway station on the Yonge line.
Our office provides a comfortable, and fun, space to work. We're very proud of our wasabi-green couch and fluorescent "tickld" wall sign. We have a coffee maker, which arguably takes more credit than the servers for keeping the Site up-and-running. If you're not the coffee-type, we also have a water cooler and a fridge that's always stocked with pop, juice and milk.
You can find us at the address below, but please do not show up uninvited! You're always welcome to send us an email, and we'll organize a visit.
60 St. Clair Avenue East, Suite 300
Thank you for your interest, and we look forward to hearing from you!
